I met this girl in the eye of a storm it was some time in June when the weathers not warm, she held my hand and we went for a dance and she said we should go back to her place. I took off my shirt and I showed her my heart, she undid her jacket, showed me hers scars it sounds so intense but it seemed to make sense at the time
But, I always want people to be simple for me x 3
I’ve never had someone read me like that no I’ve never had someone read me like that before
She showed me patience to let her in her face in my hair and my hands on her skin, her body like porcelain I was so scared I would break it. So the time passed and the weeks turned to months as questions arose about what we’d become, I wanted to lover her but knew I could not heartbreak within a heartbreak
But, I always want people to be simple for me x 3
I’ve never had someone read me like that no I’ve never had someone read me like that before
Weeks turned into months and it all came undone, I wanted to lover her when it stopped being fun
But, I always want people to be simple for me x 3
I’ve never had someone read me like that no I’ve never had someone read me like that before

With thanks to The City of Sydney for granting me a 12 months artist’s residency to create this album, without which it would not have been possible. Also thank you to my son Noah for his ongoing love and support on my creative projects that sometimes turn both our worlds upside down.

The backing tracks on this album have seen serious improvement since Hatchie's debut, and the tracks have more variety. I'm not sure if there's been much improvement on the vocals, but overall this is a better (and longer!) showing from this artist. CyanStrawberry

This is potentially the greatest dreampop record of the 2010s. Combining bold, memorable melodies, varied and textured music, and emotionally breathtaking lyrics, Psychopomp will be remembered for many decades to come and has an unforgettable place in the heart of anybody who knows it.
